The excavator’s troubles: How to “pile” it?

In the engineering circle, an excavator suddenly became popular. Not because it dances, not because it can play DJs, but because it is going to transform.

“Brother, what are you going to do?” asked the crane driver next to him.

“I… I’m going to change to a pile driver.”

Instantly, the whole audience was silent. Everyone knew that this meant that its life would change from “digging” to “hammering”.

But then, it fell into the most difficult choice in the excavator’s career:

A: Standard arm can be directly converted to pile driving, which saves money and can be turned back.

B: Add counterweight and replace pile driving arm, which works hard but cannot be turned back.

To put it bluntly, one is “wearing a hat and going on stage to sing”, and the other is “shaving one’s head and becoming a Buddhist monk and never looking back”.

Let’s talk about Option A first: use the standard arm to do it directly!

Advantages? Too obvious:

● No need to spend extra money to change the arm, saving the boss’s wallet from being as thin as a crucian carp.

● Piling can be done when it is said to be piled, digging can be done when it is said to be dug, and it can be switched flexibly, which is more versatile than the office white-collar worker.

● A versatile artifact for the construction team, it can be called the “Transformer in the pile world”.

◆ But what about the disadvantages?

Alas, it is weak! After all, the standard arm is not designed for high-frequency shocks, just like asking a poet to move bricks – it is okay, but it is a bit tiring and it is easy to sprain the waist (don’t ask who I am)!

Let’s look at Plan B: Dedicated pile driving arm + counterweight

This is like a “muscular man” born for pile driving, and the benefits are obvious:

●Can drive longer piles and deeper foundations, and easily cope with complex working conditions, even if the foundation is as “hard” as old Beijing fried noodles.

●The machine has a stable center of gravity and a large load-bearing capacity, and it can hit a kid with one hammer when driving piles.

◆ But there are also problems:

●After adding counterweights and changing arms, do you want to go back to your original job? Sorry, this function is no longer available.

●Specialized machine for special use, just like you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to tattoo the four words “pile driving maniac” – you can’t go back, and you can’t enter a decent construction site!

So the question is:

Do you want to be a “flexible switching” pile driving expert, even if you are weak in strength, you can still make a living?

Or do you want to be a “final hammer” heavy armored warrior, even if you can never go back to your original life in this life?

Life is like an excavator. Not every decision can be “withdrawn”. But no matter whether you choose A or B, as long as you drive well and work steadily, you will have a place in the pile world!
