1. Check the lubricant
The pile driver should choose the lubricant suitable for your pile driver according to the temperature in your area, combined with the freezing point and viscosity of the lubricant itself. Especially the lubricant in the vibration box, the core component of the pile hammer, should be more cautious. The construction range of the pile driver is wide, from the northeast to Hainan this month, and from Shandong to Xinjiang next month. It is recommended to replace the lubricant used in the higher temperature area in time after arriving in the lower temperature area. When the temperature is low, especially in winter, the viscosity of the lubricant is better to be lower. Under normal circumstances, the lower the ambient temperature, the thicker the lubricant will be, the greater the viscosity, the weaker the fluidity, and the lubrication effect will be weakened accordingly. In addition, it is not recommended to mix lubricants of different brands. The additives in lubricating oils from different manufacturers are generally different. If they are mixed blindly, the oil may deteriorate to varying degrees, affecting the final lubrication effect. I warn you, don’t save the three or two hundred yuan of oil money. The pile driver will not be lubricated properly, and the loss will be at least 10,000 yuan, which is not worth the loss.
2. Antifreeze needs to be replaced
In most cases, the working environment of the pile driver is relatively harsh. When winter comes, especially in the north, when the ambient temperature is below zero, must replace the original antifreeze. Someone often use untreated water as the coolant of the pile driver. This method of saving money and “doing bad things” is best not to do it again. When the pile driver leaves the factory, the manufacturer will give clear recommendations on the replacement cycle of the antifreeze. According to so many years of experience, the antifreeze should be replaced at least once a year. Frequent replacement can play a real antifreeze role, otherwise it will only have a counter-effect and damage the engine. On the market, most of the cooling systems of construction site equipment will have scale or rust accumulation after long-term use. These accumulations seriously affect the heat dissipation function of the cooling system of the pile driver, so when changing the antifreeze of the pile driver, it is best to clean the antifreeze tank. Just brush it and it will be done in half an hour. Like lubricating oil, remember not to mix antifreeze of different standards or brands, just like we usually change the antifreeze of the car ourselves.
3. Pay attention to the diesel grade
The diesel engine equipped with the pile driver is the same as the excavator. Different grades of diesel should be added in a targeted manner in different seasons, different temperatures, and different regions. If you don’t pay attention to the diesel grade, the engine fuel system will wax and the oil circuit will be blocked at the least, and the engine will stop working and production at the worst, and the loss will be visible to the naked eye. According to our country’s diesel fuel standards, 5# diesel can generally be used in areas above 8°C; 0# diesel can generally be used in ambient temperatures between 8°C and 4°C; -10# diesel is suitable for use in ambient temperatures between 4°C and -5°C; -20# diesel is recommended for use in ambient temperatures between -5°C and -14°C; -35# diesel is recommended for use in ambient temperatures between -14°C and -29°C; -50# diesel is recommended for use in ambient temperatures between -29°C and -44°C or even lower (however, there is no need for construction at any lower temperatures).
4. Preheating starting are necessary
The first start of the pile driver in winter should not exceed 8 seconds each time. If you cannot start it successfully at one time, you can try to start it again after 1 minute. After the pile driver is started successfully, it is best to keep the car in place for 5-10 minutes. The purpose of doing this is first to charge the battery, and then to increase the water temperature in the car and the air pressure to 0.4Mpa. After all indicators are reached, you can start the pile driver to get on the car or work. The above warm-up steps are equivalent to the warm-up before winter swimming. You can swim better by moving before going into the water. When the construction environment temperature is close to zero or even below, it is recommended to preheat the water to more than 30 degrees before starting the pile driver. In addition, it is recommended that the diesel engine be fully loaded when the water temperature is higher than 55℃ and the oil temperature is not lower than 45℃. The temperature during operation should not exceed 100℃. The temperature of the pile hammer body exceeds 120℃, which is considered high temperature.
5. Electrical parts need to be repaired
Winter starting difficulties often occur on some old pile drivers, and the electrical parts are old and not resistant to freezing. During seasonal maintenance, checking and replacing aging electrical circuits and components is an essential measure to reduce starting difficulties, including checking and maintaining batteries. Warm air equipment is essential for outdoor work in winter, so the working condition of the warm air equipment should be checked and repaired. If you don’t have any projects for the time being and the pile driver is idle for a long time, it is recommended that you start the engine once every half a month and run it for more than 10 minutes to restore the battery and other electrical components. If you don’t have any projects for a long time or even more than 2 months, it is recommended to disconnect the negative pole of the pile driver battery. If conditions permit, you can remove the battery and store it separately (maintenance is a must, and anti-theft should not be forgotten).
6. three leaks must be checked
Compared with other construction machinery, pile drivers have very many and very long hydraulic pipelines, and countless connectors. When the environment and their own working temperature change, so many and such long pipelines and connectors cannot avoid thermal expansion and contraction. The seals of the oil, gas, and water of the pile driver, especially the O-rings, are prone to damage and other problems. When the old iron’s pile driver is working in winter, it seems to be common for the pile driver to leak oil, gas, and water. Therefore, the temperature continues to drop in winter. As the boss or driver of the pile driver, it is necessary to get off the car frequently to check for the three leakage hazards to prevent them from happening.
A good pile driver depends on use for three points and maintenance for seven points. Compared with other seasons, winter has low temperatures and harsher environment, which is a big test for pile drivers with complex structures. Winter is also the off-season for the engineering industry, and equipment is often idle. The old iron who maintains the pile driver may understand that when the equipment is always in use, the problem may be easy to find, but it is afraid that the equipment will be idle and some problems will be easily hidden, especially in winter. Finally, when the weather is cold and the ground is slippery, the old iron who is still busy on the construction site, piling is a technical job and a high-risk industry.
